Upon his departure from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in 2005 (at age 95), Dave’s longtime friends gave him a new camera that defined his post-management years and gave his passion for life a new outlet.
A longtime motorcycle enthusiast, bike rider and backpacker, Dave now spends much of his time traversing the Eastern Sierra on all-terrain vehicles called Rhinos and shooting photos with his wife, Roma. His photography provides a unique view into territory that very few people have caught on camera.

Pursuits in digital photography
No one knows the Eastern Sierra better than Dave McCoy, the founder of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and the Mammoth Lakes Foundation. His passion for skiing the area is matched only by a lifelong enthusiasm for photographing it.
For years Dave captured the day-to-day life of his ski resort home, including ski racing, chairlift construction and record snowfalls, all with a Leica camera.
