Passion and dreams… they are what give a person vision for how to live their lives. I have discovered some of my own personal passions for writing, music and art through my exposure at Cerro Coso Community College. Because of this, I am deeply indebted for the scholarship I received that enabled me to attend college.

Growing up in Crowley Lake, Mammoth’s little neighbor town, I have always known about Cerro Coso Community College and had even taken a few classes during high school. Never in a million years would I have thought that I could get a fully paid scholarship that would send me to a junior college just fifteen minutes from where I have lived all my life.  Through the Mammoth Lakes Foundation, I was not only given an education, but I was also shown a family of friends that cared for each other and each of its scholarship students.

The Foundation asks that each student volunteer his or her time when possible at some of its fundraisers. Through volunteering, I was introduced to some of my now very close and dear friends and I am so grateful to the Foundation for the opportunity.

Without the help of the Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship and those who support it, I am positive that my education would have come to an immediate halt after my graduation from high school. Now, I am equipped to pursue my passions as well as be able to meet new friends and teachers. I want to thank every person who has ever donated funds or time to the Mammoth Lakes Foundation for the local scholarships. Without your help, countless students would be left without a means of pursuing a higher education.

Sincerely,
Angela Jackson
Fall 2010
The Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship has allowed me to go to school in the town I love. I have been able to participate in all the activities I love while getting a higher education. The scholarship has allowed me to attend college classes that I otherwise would not have been able to afford.

The scholarship has encouraged me to obtain as much knowledge as possible while provoking me to never settle for a mediocre lifestyle. The scholarship will be my foundation for my future in life and college.

Thank you,
Taylor Strawn
